Chad Shank

Songwriter and Songwriting Instructor

Hey Songwriters!

I’m Chad Shank, and my mission is to help you break free from the creative boxes holding you back and discover the tools and techniques to develop your own authentic, unique, and powerful songwriting style. I believe creating is what we’re meant to do—that each of us has something to say and the ability to move people through music.

Music has the power to connect us in deep, soul-shifting ways. I’ve seen incredible friendships and collaborations blossom through the At-Home Songwriting community, and it reminds me daily why this work matters.

With over 30 years of experience in the music industry, I’ve written thousands of songs and collaborated with artists and writers across pop, country, dance, and hip-hop. My journey has taken me from running my own indie record label to licensing songs for shows on HBO, MTV, WE, Fox Business, and Discovery. I’ve released over 300 songs on Spotify, Apple Music, and YouTube—each one part of my own creative evolution.

I founded At-Home Songwriting to create a space for songwriters to learn, grow, and reconnect with the magic of their own creativity. I’ve spent over a decade teaching writers how to craft songs that are emotionally powerful and professionally built—without losing their unique voice. I also teach lyric writing for Berklee College of Music Online, and I hold a Certificate in Songwriting from Berklee, along with a diploma in Audio Engineering from The Recording Workshop in Chillicothe, OH. I’ve worked in commercial radio for 7+ years and served as the Education Director for the Minnesota Association of Songwriters.

Since launching the At-Home Songwriting YouTube channel in 2021, I’ve been sharing insights, stories, and step-by-step tutorials to help songwriters at every level grow their craft. These days, I’m focused on releasing my own music while continuing to create online courses and content that support fellow writers on their journey.

If you’re ready to explore your voice, reconnect with your creativity, and write songs that feel like you, I’m here for it. Let’s walk this songwriting path together. Let’s write songs that connect.
